The line graph shows the percentage of different age groups of cinema visitors in a particular country.
The line chart compares the percentages of movie goers by different age groups in a country from 1978 to 2008.
Overall, the differences in the percentages of cinema visitors among these four age cohorts finally narrow down over the twenty year period. What is noteworthy is the significant increase in the number of people aged over 50.
The upper three curves representing cinema visitors aged 14 to 24, 25 to 34, and 35 to 49 respectively. These three curves all show a general decline over the 20 years. The percentages of people aged 14 to 24 and 35 to 49, as represented by the upper first and the third curve, were each down by about 10%, compared with what they were at 90% and 60% in 1978. As for the age cohort 25 to 34, the figure for it dropped from 80% to only about 65%. By contrast, more people aged over 50 showed up in cinema in the period, as the figure rose from 40% to 50%.
One interesting point is that all the four curves hit the lowest point in 1988, with the figure at 75%, 60%, 40%, and 20% respectively. Another noteworthy point is the period between 1998 to 2003 when the percentages of movie goers came to an standstill.
