The line graph shows the percentage of New Zealand population from 1950 to 2050

A glance at the lines provided reveals the growth level of the number of people living in New Zealand during the period from 1950 to 2050. It is evident that both age groups have been fluctuating dramatic in century.

One particularly interesting fact highlighted by the figure is that the highest percentage of population growth is the oldest group. From 60 percent in 1950, the over-65 group rate peaked at 80 percent in 1990 and it has been slipping to 55 percent in 2050. By contrast, from a mere 5 percent among the 0-to-14 group in 1950, the adolescent percentage reached the bottom – 2 percent – in 1990. However, in the latter half of the century, it has been bringing a rapid increase in this figure.

The 25-to-37 group and 38-to-45 group have different fluctuations. The population growth level of group 25-to-37 just rose in the first decade. From 1960, the figure has been declining dramatically to approximate 1 percent – the lowest overall. The percentage of 38-to-45 group has been remaining stable at 40-50 percent since 2000 to 2050 after a significant increasing in former stage.
