The line graph illustrates three different crimes committed from 1970 to 2005 in England and Wales.
From this graph, it is shown that the number of car theft committed is the largest over there and a half decades. The first two decades witnessed a climb in the cases from 400,000 in 1970 to 1 million in 1990, and then the number of cases had soared to the peak(1.6 million) in 1995. However, it experienced a dramatic fall to the same level which was in 1990 over the last decade. Similarly, the number of house burgling has a slight upward trend during 1970 and 1995(200,000 to 650,000). Then it declined to 500,000 in 2005.
It is noticeable that the least one, street robbery, its figure remained steady around 5000 over the first two decades before climbed moderately to 200,000 in 2005.
Overall, the graph indicates the number of crimes committed in England and Wales is becoming larger since 1970. The gap between car theft, house burgling, and street robbery is wider.
