The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.
The first picture shows the current spatial distribution of the central part of Islip town while the second map is a representation of the proposed developmental plan.
Overall, the proposed plan shows that the bulk of the restructuring would take place in the northern part of the town with minimal changes to the southern part.
While the current road leading to the town is a single main road, the plan shows a conversion of this road to a dual carriageway surrounding the structures of the town’s centre. The southern part is proposed to remain the same with the school, park and shops in the current location. Only a new housing structure is introduced.
At the centre of the town, the former main road will be limited for pedestrians use only, however, the current location of the shops and the countryside will be developed to a bus station, shopping centre, a car park and new housing.
