Essay topics:

The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.

summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The maps illustrate the future plans for the development of the centre of Islip, a small town, as well as its current structure.

To begin with, the main road in the centre of the city is planned to be switched to a pedestrians-only track, while vehicles will be able to move around the city centre through the dual carriageway that is planned to encompass everything in the city centre. The shops in the north will be grouped together in a shopping centre with a totally new bus station on its west side as well as a new car park on its east side. Further to the east, there is going to be a new housing.

While the shops at the centre will be left unchanged, a new housing to their south will be added to the two already existing housings. The park will be markedly reduced in size in order to make room for the new housing that is planned to be on its west. The school in the south-west region will be barely changed, increasing its size by a tiny margin.
