The maps depict the urbanization of Stokeford Village between 1930 and 2010.
It is apparent that the area was primarily a rural settlement in 1930, but by 2010, it had become a densely populated urban area. It is worth mentioning that although the village witnessed drastic changes over years, the bridge over the River stoke, the post office, and the main road remained unaltered.
In 1930, a large area of the village was dedicated to farming as there were farmlands on both sides of the main road. Before the development was commenced, several houses, a few shops, and a post office could be seen along the West side of the main road. In addition, to the East of the road, there laid a large house with gardens and a small primary school above it.
By 2010, two new branches had been constructed on either side of the northern part of the main road. Along the main road and alleys, new housings were erected. Furthermore, the shops located in the middle of the village and farms were demolished to leave space for accommodation. In the West, the large house was extended and converted into a retirement home; nonetheless, its gardens shrank, allowing more houses to be built. Located to the North of the retirement home was still the primary school with two additional facilities installed.
