Overall, the percentages for people who live in urban areas both in and out of Australia increased dramatically. On the contrary, the amount of residents from rural areas fell drastically during given time period.

In 1995, the percentage of people who were born in Australia and lived in cities was about 50%, and that number rose to 65% in 2010. The data for non-Australian population moved up to 20%, from 60% in 1995 to 80% 15 years later. The figures for rural residents both in and out Australia plummered sharply, where numbers decreased from 30% to 15% for Australians and from 40% to nearly 5% for foreigners.

The bar for the number of people who live in towns changed less significantly than for other regions. The percentage for Australian-born individuals in this section was reached 20% in 1995, and only decreased slightly to 15% in 2010. The data for non-Australian born people was stable, and levelled off at 10% during 15 years.
