The pie charts illustrate the main causes for undergraduates to choose a specific UK higher-educational place in 1987 and 2007.
Firstly, the most outstanding feature is the drastic decrease of “good sports and social activities” as being a main reason from 19 to a mere 6 percent. Furthermore, the “quality of resources” experienced a slight decline by four percent from 1987 to 2007.
On the other hand, appropriate degree courses remained as the major contributor in choosing university in the United Kingdom, with a tiny upward alteration by two percent. Similarly, teaching quality had a increase from 1987 until 2007, having 15 and 18 percent accordingly. However, percentage of “close to parental home” had a dramatic soar up by 12 percent starting from 10 percent in 1987, in comparison to the rest of the reasons.
Overall, role of good sports and social activities diminished and that of closiness to parental home increased, while the rest remained approximately the same.
