Essay topics:

The pie graphs below show the result of a survey of children's activities. The first graph shows the cultural and leisure activities that boys participate in, whereas the second graph shows the activities in which the girls participate.

Write a report describing the information shown in the two pie graphs.

Write at least 150 words.

The pie charts make a comparison of how boys and girls typically join in cultural and leisure activities. Overall, the number of children of each gender participating in activities depends on their personalities. It is also noticeable that only the figures for listening to music, playing computer games and reading appear in both genders.

In terms of listening to music, the percentage of participating boys and girls shares an identical figure which is 10%. In contrast, the figures for playing computer games in the two subjects have a considerable difference when the proportion for boys relatively doubled that for girls (34% and 16%). Similarly, while only a fraction is recorded in the figure for boys who do the reading in their leisure time, the statistic for girls is merely 10 times bigger, constituting nearly a quarter.

According to the survey, boys prefer doing sports for their cultural and leisure activities; namely basketball, soccer and skateboarding, in which the participation percentages are all above 10%, with basketball being chosen the most (26%). However, girls tend to join in flexible activities: dancing, netball and gymnastic which are 27%, 15% and 11% respectively.
