The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The two maps illustrate a number of changes which took place in Grange park from 1920 to present.
Overall, Grange park has witnessed dramatic changes with the most noticeable change being the construction of entertainment facilities such as a café and children’s play area.
In 1920, visitors could enter the park from the Northern entrance on Arnold Avenue or the Southern one on Eldon Street but now the park has had a new entrance from an underground car park. A new water feature has been built in place of the old glasshouse to the west of the southern entrance. In addition, the fountain was located at the center of the park, with the large stage for musicians on the left. At the present, the former has been replaced by a rose garden surrounded by many seats while the latter has been demolished to give room for an amphitheater for concerts.
Previously, there were two gardens of roses situated in the west and east of the southern park and one on the right of the northern entry with many seats placed next to them but recently only the one on the north of the amphitheater existed. Besides, the garden and pond for water planted on the top right corner has been substituted by a cafe and a playground for children, respectively.
