Some people say that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals Others say that there are more important environmental problems Discuss both these views and give your own opinion

Environmental issues have become the major concern of our time, and many believe that extinction of specific species of plants and animals is the most significant threat, while others have a different view. Both sides of the argument will be discussed here before reaching a reasoned conclusion.

On the one hand, people who support the idea point towards the ecological changes while highlighting the imbalances in different food chains. They state the example of the tiger and deer ecosystem where the change in the numbers of one impacts the other. If the number declines for the tiger, the figure for deer rise significantly which leads to disappearance of grasslands and consequently other species depending on the grass fields will go extinct as their food source is in scarcity. Furthermore, the people who support go further mentioning the negative effects caused by specific trees eradication. They mention data showing the dependent animals losing their habitats as a result. Moreover, such occurrence makes the situation even more grave as these animals rely on them also for food.

In contrast, the opponents point to other issues such as climate change and global warming. Firstly, they count these changes as the root cause of the recent rise in natural disasters. Furthermore, they think that due to extreme weather our planet is changing rapidly, and the consequences are probably far flung than we can assume. They indicate the rise of sea level, global rise in the temperature and the changed patterns in seasons. Recent researches also support this view and many experts are persistently expressing their concerns about the negative outcomes of global climatic changes. It appears that the issue of changed climate is far more severe to be called a major threat for life itself on our planet.

In conclusion, I feel the extinction of different trees and other lives definitely has its major impacts, however, The changing patterns in climate can lead us towards a catastrophe where life itself could be under threat.
