The table and charts below give information on the police budget for 2017 and
2018 in one area of Britain. The table shows where the money came from and
the charts show how it was distributed.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and
make comparisons where relevant

The table indicates different sources for the police budget while the pie charts display the percentage of the money was spent in three purposes: salaries, technology, buildings and transport. Both are measured in 2017 and 2018 in one area of Britain. In general, the national government is the largest contributor to its budget, while salaries are the largest spending.
The police budget reached 304.7 million pounds in 2017 and most of the sources came from national government, accounting for 175.5 million pounds. In contrast to local taxes, which significantly climbed from 91.2 million pounds to 102.3 million in 2018, national government showed a slight increase with 177.8 million by 2018. Other sources such as grants remained the same in both years at 38 million.
In 2017, salaries for officers and staff accounting for 75% of the funding, which is the largest outlay of money, declined to 69% by the year 2018. On the other hand, spending on technology had a remarkable rise from 8% to 14% in 2018. Staying the same in both years at 17% of the expenditure is the amount of money spent on buildings and transport.
