The table below describes the number of employees and factories in England and Wales from 1851 to 1901.

The table depicts the total number of male and female employees and factories in England and Wales over a 50 year period. Overall, it is clear that the total number of people employed are in a declining state as opposed to factories, which are in an increasing state.
In 1851, the total number of employees was 477,100, where 287100 males and 190000 males were involved. The quantity of employees at 1901 was almost reduced by 8 times for males, which is 31000 in numbers, while the number of female employees dropped by more than 6 times, accounting for 30000 employees, which in total stated 61000 in 1901.
In the case of factories, it almost tripled from 225 to 600 in 1851 and 1901, respectively. The number of factories had a very small change, from 225 to 227 in 1861, which then increased by 400 approximately in 1881. The figures started to decline and were 600 by 1901.
