The table compares about the transport by railways in four countries according to the three criteria in 2007.
Overall, it can be seen that the USA was considerably outstripped by other countries except with respect to loading cargos.
In terms of the number of people using the rail transport, Japanese people topped the list at 27%, compared to the USA at 0.3%, making it the least total. Japan still ranked the number one at 1980 regarding the passenger kilometres per head of the population, much more higher than the USA with 80. Despite being eclipsed, surprisingly the USA was in the first place at 2820, while Japan stood at 23.01 when it came to carrying cargos.
In contrast, both the UK and Italy exhibited almost identical figures in all three measures. The net figure as for the first and third criteria (folks travelling by rails and transferring loads) was 5.9% ( the UK) vs 5.5% (Italy), and 22.2% (the Uk) vs 21.9% (Italy) correspondingly, negligible differences between the two. However, Italy was ultimately just ahead of the UK at 780 vs 770 in passenger kilometres per head of population.
