Overall, the average spending per visit followed an upward trend over the period shown. Also, the number of visits was the highest in 2007 of the six years.
In 2002, the figure for visits was 234. 715 million with their total spending was 11. 855 billion euros. In the next 5 years, the number of visitors in the UK showed a gradual increase to almost 33. 000 million then the figure for that slightly decreased to 31. 888 million. Meanwhile, the figure for the latter witnessed an increase of about 5. 000 billion euros in 2006 then dropped to 15. 960 billion euros in the next year after rising back to 16. 323 billion euros at the end of the period.
Turning to the other categories, initiating at 475 euros in 2003, the average spending per visit increased steadily to 511 euros over the next 5 years. In the meantime, the average nights per visit remained unchangeable at 8. 2 in 2003 and 2004 then rose slowly to 8. 4 in 2006 before experiencing a gentle decline of 0. 7.
