The table below shows the percentages of mobile phone owners using various mobile phone features.
The chart compares the percentage of 7 different functions of smartphone played by users in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
It is clear that making a phone call was by far the most popular function for mobile phones but it was had a little drop from 2006 to 2010. Recording video was the least common features among the seven functions using by owners in 2008 but it was used far more in 2010.
In 2006, 100 per cent people would use their phones to make calls while the second and third most popular uses of mobile phones were sending and receiving text messages (73%) and taking photos (66%). By contrast, less than 20% of mobile phone users would play games and play music on their phone, and there was no record for users searching the Internet or recording video.
In the following 4 years, except the percentage of making calls dropping from 100% to 99%, the figures for the other 6 features using by owners were increased from 2008 to 2010. During this time, more users searching the Internet than playing games on the phone in 2010, with the number of 73% and 41% respectively. Meanwhile, although the function of playing music used by more and more people over the years, the percentage of it (26%) was overtaken by 35% of recording video in 2010.
