The table illustrates the amounts of fast food consumption in Melbourne over a period of 20 years.
It is clear that the amounts of all types of convenience food increase over the period shown. Overall, hamburgers are by far the most popular choice for Melbourne consumers.
In 2005, 40 units of Hamburgers were consumed, compared to only 5 units of Salad. Now, people cut their hamburgers consumption by 2 units but Salads are consumed more with 15 units recorded. By 2025, the amount of salads consumed is predicted to continue to jump up by 25 units, becoming the third preferred food while that of Hamburgers is also expected to bounce back by 13.
Some striking differences are not seen in the consumption of others. Despite there is some gradual increases, Fried Chicken remains to be the second most consumed food in every year, ranging from 35 to 35. Additionally, the figures for fried rice and noodles rises and is anticipated to continue but only reach under 10 units by 2025.
