Overall, the number of the aging population in all countries is anticipated to increase from 1988 to 2030. The highest percentage of elderly people can be seen in Germany and this will remain the highest number in 2030, while the UK comprised the smallest proportion over the period given.
Between 1988 and 2000, Germany and Canada's population of people aged 65 and more rose by roughly 5% to 25.32% and 20.67% respectively. In the UK, the figure had relatively little change with just under 15% in both years.
By 2030, the population of elderly people in the three countries is expected to grow by approximately 5.5%. The number of people aged 65 and above in Germany and Canada will rise to 30.40% and 26.35% respectively, whereas in the UK it is forecast to climb at just over a fifth.
