The table graph sets out the sales of mobile phones over the six-year period from 2006 to 2012. The measure unit was millions.
In general, Motorola was the unique brand that experienced a sharp fall over six years. The sales of Nokia and Ericsson showed a mix performance. And two other brands increased, but the most significant change was in Apple.
It is clear from the chart that Motorola was the only brand that had a downturn. About 210 mobile phones were sold in 2006, the number decreased nearly eightfold to 28 in 2012. Being in the first place in 2006 with 345 million mobile phones being sold, over the first two years, the figures of Nokia rose gradually and peaked at 475 million, after a steady fall in the next year, the number increased again to 463 million and plunged to 335 million in 2012. There was a slight fluctuation in the sales of Ericsson. Despite a growth in 2007, its number went down consistently, by about 60% to 28 after six years.
Contrary to the downward trend in the first three brands, the statistic of Samsung and Apple rose sharply. Sold 117 million mobile phones in 2006, six years later, Samsung had its statistics increased over threefold, and became the top selling brand of this device. Apple also underwent an upswing in its figures. Appeared in the market in 2007 with just 2.3 million, its sales soared considerably to 135,8 in 2012. Apple was the brand that had the most dramatic change among the five brands.
