The table shows source of student income over a five-year period in the United States.
The table represents the information about the four main sources of income to support student’s expenses from 2010 to 2015 in the United States.
A clear rising trend can be observed for student’s bank loans and earnings over the five year periods, whereas parental contribution and grant aid have both dropped. Students total income rose overall by over us$2000; from $9153 in 2010 to $11563 in 2015.
In terms of bank loans, 6% comprised to students’ income in 2010 and students earning was 10%. By 2015, student bank loan increased dramatically to 29% of overall student’s income whereas earnings have risen substantially to 30% over the same period.
In contrast, grants were accounted for more than half of total student’s income and this drastically declined over five year periods to just 16% in 2015. Parental contribution experienced a steadily fell from 32% in 2010 to 25% in 2015.
The figure indicates that, students were heavily relied on government and parental supports in 2010 which have changed to they have taken more responsibility in paying for their expenses in the form of bank loans and earnings.
