The two tables depict the sales of coffee and bananas sold under Fairtrade label in the UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Belgium and Sweden in the years 1999 and 2004.
Overall, Switzerland seems to be the highest spender on coffee in 1999 and on bananas for both years (1999 and 2004). However, coffee sales were solely dominated by the UK in 2004. Furthermore, Sweden came the least in coffee sales both years, while banana sales were lowest in Belgium the first year and Denmark the second year.
Coffee sales in 1999 show Switzerland to be the top spender at 3 million euros, while Sweden spent only 0.8 million euros. However, in 2004, the sales in UK rose sharply from 1.5 to 20 million euros, while least expenditure on coffee was still in Sweden.
Bananas were sold the most in Switzerland, earning 15 million euros, whereas the least sales were seen in Belgium at a mere 0.6 million in 1999. In addition, the Switzerland was yet again the top buyer, spending an extraordinary 47 million in 2004. However, sales in Denmark dropped from previous year, which is a variation from normal trend. A mere 0.9 million euros worth of bananas were sold there in 2004.
