The given table below compares the earnings from banana and coffee labelled with FairTrade in 5 countries of Europe in two years: 1999 and 2004.
Overall, while it is clear that the Coffee grew significantly in demand in UK over the period, Switzerland was the dominant seller of banana in both years.
According to the first table, the greatest change is evident in the UK where 1.5 million euros worth of coffee were sold in 1999 and after a half decade, its sales escalated to 20 million. Similarly, the Switzerland sales doubled from 3 to 6 million euros between 1999 and 2004, while Belgium income from coffee soared by .7 million on top of 1 million over the same period. However, in 1999, it generated 1.8 million and 0.8 million in demark and Sweden respectively, which then rose by .2 million each in the next 5 years.
Moving to the FairTrade banana, the Switzerland predominated its sales among the 5 countries, with 15 million in 1999 and 47 million in 2004. Subsequently, the UK encountered fivefold increase in its earning from 1 million to around 5.5 million from 1999 to 2004, whereas Belgium grew in the same years from 0.6 to 4 million. In contrast, although Sweden and Demark spent 1.8 million and 2 million on banana in 1999, it dropped in 2004 to 1 and 0.9 million respectively.
