• Task 1: The plans below show how the ground of a particular building has changed over time. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features.
The maps illustrate a number of changes which took place in the layout of a particular building from 1958 to present.
Overall, it was an office from 1958 to 1984 which became an apartment from 1985 to 2000 and then converted into a flower shop from 2001 to present. The entire ground floor has seen significant development except the kitchen.
There was a meeting room in the top left-hand corner of the ground floor from 1958 to 1984 before expanding in order to convert into a living room in the next 5 years. When the floor became a flower shop in 2001, that room shrunk and transformed into the area for gift cards. Next to the meeting room, the assistant’s office and the secretary’s office had the equal area but they were demolished to make room for the expansion of other rooms in 1985 and now it became the area for flowers. Interestingly, the kitchen stayed unchanged over time.
In 2001, the play area was constructed to the left of the entrance which was a toilet and a bathroom before. In the right-hand corner of the layout, the manager office and the reception area were reconstructed to make 2 bedrooms and then converted into the office and the area of exhibiting flowers.
