These three pie charts describe differences in annual expenses of a certain UK school in three different years: 1981, 1991 and 2001. In the next few paragraphs we are going to discuss how its spending has changed.
The first thing we see is that, in all of the three years, staff’s salaries constitute the most of the school’s spending. Teachers’ salaries increased from 40% in 1981 to 50% in 1991 and then decreased to 45% in 2001 which was still higher than those of 1981, whereas other workers’ salaries decreased from 28% in 1981 to 22% in 1991 and then fell to its lowest at 2001 with 15%.
Moreover, we can see that this school spent around 15% on resources in 1981 and that rose to 20% in 1991 and then in 2001 it fell dramatically to 9%. In contrast, expenses on furniture decreased from 15% in 1981 to 5% in 1991, later in 2001 they increased sharply up to 23% of total spending. Furthermore, it’s clear that this school’s spending on insurance increased to 8% in 2001 although it was 3% in 1991 and 2% in 1981.
All in all, teachers’ salaries comprised the highest share of this UK school’s expenditure in all of the three years, while insurance was the lowest.
