Topic: The chart below shows the percentages of five kinds of magazines sold by a company in the UK between 2001 and 2009.

The chart illustrates the sales performances in five distinctive categories by a company in the UK from 2001 and 2009, including economics, sports, social, music, and movie.
As can be seen from the chart, it is apparent that both economics and movie magazines gained popularity among citizens in the UK, increasing throughout the years, whereas there was a sharp decline in the percentage of sports and social magazines. It is also noticeable that at the end of the period, the proportion of music magazines was balanced.

Looking at the chart, social magazines were the most prominent among the five categories, taking the lead with 40% in 2009. This ratio was also twice as greater as the percentage of sports magazines as well as nearly four times compared to music magazines. Nevertheless, in the next four years, it was undergone a rocket decrease by roughly half, and continued the negative trend, hitting the bottom at 5% in 2009. Meanwhile, in 2001, the proportion of sports magazines witnessed a considerable rise to reach at a quarter before falling again at the start point, whilst it is true for music magazines. After dropping by half in 2001, the percentage of these magazines showed a positive trend to go up again at one-in-ten in 2009.

Regarding the ratio of economics newspapers, after maintaining the same ratio for 5 years at 25% until 2005, this percentage rose dramatically to reach the peak of 35% at the end of the examined period. Surprisingly, despite accounting for a tiny ratio, of roughly 5% in 2001, movie magazines grabbed the public’s attention strongly, making a huge contribution to fostering its growth drastically to reach 30% in 2009.
