The diagram shown depicts the manufacturing process of a meat pie and a sample of meat pie with ingredients.
The process starts with two separate assembly lines, one for processing potato and the other for meat. The potatoes are delivered to the store, from where they are first cleaned. From delivery to cleaning it takes up to 2 months. Cleaned potatoes are then peeled and sliced before boiling. The potato peels get disposed off in a waste disposal chamber separately. Boiled potatoes are chilled and then stored for further use in the meat pie production line. For the meat, refrigerated beef is delivered for defrosting first and it takes up to 2 weeks before it is put for further processing. Defrosted beef is sprinkled with salt and pepper before heating it in oven. The fat is then removed from the beef and its smaller pieces are made. The waste is disposed off to a waste disposal chamber at this step. The diced beef is inspected for quality before putting in containers. Peas and carrots along with prepared gravy is added on top of the meat. The final ingredient is potato which is taken from the storage and added as the topmost layer of the meat pie. It is then wrapped and frozen before dispatching to markets. A finished meat pie contains a potato layer on the top and meat layer at the bottom. Between these two layers there is peas and carrot layer along-with gravy sauce.
