Essay topics:

Living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social problems, as well as practical problems.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Living abroad without speaking the local language fluently exerts manifold adverse impacts on foreigners, not only social problems but also practical problems. While I suppose that there are several benefits of living in another country, it is my contention that its drawbacks pose obstacles to foreigners’ lives.
It stands to reason that migrating to a country where speaking a foreign language would be conducive to individuals’ development. Firstly, foreigners have an excellent opportunity to sharpen their language skills and gain deeper insight into local cultures. An explanation is that it creates a good condition for them to interact with native residents on the daily basis. Secondly, people might have a tendency to settle down in another country for a lucrative income. Thanks to it, they easily ease their financial burdens and put money aside for a rainy day in the future.
On the other hand, people certainly have to face an array of downsides when they live abroad without fluency in a foreign language. First, individuals with poor language skill might encounter language barriers, even culture shock when they make an effort to integrate with the local community. As a result, there are a multitude of conflicts and misunderstandings between them and others, and it renders them isolated and depressed. Furthermore, it is an uphill task for some foreigners to make ends meet because they will have difficulties in landing a steady job. It is likely that employers tend to recruit those who live in the same motherland in order to easily get on well with other colleagues, so the work production will be increased.
In conclusion, although I believe that the upsides of living in another country are obvious, I still subscribe to the opinion that foreigners who have a paucity of language skill have to encounter serious adversities.
