you borrowed some books from your school/college library. Unfortunately, you have to go away to visit a sick relative and cannot return the books in time.
Write a letter to the library and explain what has happened and tell them what you want to do about it.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to let you know that I am traveling to visit my grandmother who is very ill and I would not return the book which I borrowed in time as promised. My sincere apologies for this, the situation is not within my control and this visit is one I must make as these may be the last days of my grand mother's life.
Let me explain my situation. My grandmother served as a second mother to me while I was growing up because my mother worked a lot. As a result, my grandmother and I are very close. Late last year, she was diagnosed with a heart condition. Being 80 years old, the doctors told us that she is unlikely to live through the sickness. This is why when I received a call from my mother informing me that she is now in a critical condition in the hospital. I had to travel to see her.
I have given the book that I borrowed to my roommate, Linda Okoro. She will return it to the library on my behalf. she has similar features to mine with brown skin, long hair and brown eyes. I have enclosed a photocopy of her student identification card for further clarification.
Thank you
Yours Faithfully,
Nlebemuo Jessica.
