Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my apology for being absent from the history exam last week.
My name is Dat Tran, and I am a junior student in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. My student ID number is 9466346.
Last Monday morning, when I got up, I had a fever that made me exhausted, and I also noticed that my gums were swollen. Therefore, my mother took me to the hospital for an immediate check-up. After being examined, I was diagnosed with teething which caused those symptoms. I told my mother to give the examinations committee an explanation of my absence. Unfortunately, she forgot to contact them. However, I have a medical certificate which should be a convincing proof for not attending the exam.
I wonder whether I will be able to resit the exam or not. Although I am aware that I may have to pay some extra fees for the exam, it will be a better solution than retaking the entire course in the next semester.
Again, I am sincerely sorry for unauthorised absence from the exam. I look forward to hearing from you, and I hope that you will sympathise with my situation.
