You live in an area where the local council has made some changes to

regulations. You believe these changes are not good for residents.

Write a letter to a councilor. In your letter:

•Introduce yourself.

•Describe the problem.

•Say what you think the council should do about the situation

Dear Sir/ Madam,

My name is James Smith, a resident of Ventura society in north-western region of Mumbai wherein last week the local council has changed some regulations.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the recent changes that were made to sound pollution by authorities. I hope you will consider my concern favourably.

Let me explain the situation in detail. Since people are allowed to use loudspeakers up to mid-night for house parties or wedding celebrations, they incessantly play music which leads to unwanted noise till 1 am in night. Although sound limit is pre-defined, this behavior still disturbs particularly school going children, who are trying to sleep early to go school next morning. This impacts not only children but also working professionals, who are logged-inform home, as they are not able to focus on their work or attend meetings with clients peacefully. This results in detrimentally affecting both personal but professional lives of many residents.

Would you kindly change the cut-off time to an evening time of 8 pm to discourage this practice of noise pollution late at night. Clearly, it will help the public to carry on their daily activities without any problems.

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours faithfully,

James Smith
