Your local council is considering closing a sports and leisure centre that it runs in order to save money.
Write a letter to the local council. In your letter,
give details of how you and your friends or family use the centre
explain why the sports and leisure centre is important for the local community
describe the possible effects on local people if the centre closes
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am Alex, resident of Apartment-212B, Block D of the ‘Happy Estate’ community. I am writing this letter with reference to council’s on-going discussions over shutting down the sports and leisure facility. While I understand why it’s important to close this recreational facility, I want to express my thoughts on why it might not be a great move.
As you might be already well versed with the importance of work-life balance, I would like to emphasize that provision of recreational centres is a key to enhance one’s well-being. I usually return home by 5 PM everyday and I hit gym immediately with my friends. Also, my family joins me in leisure activities at the centre to spend quality time as well as indulge in some fun activities available.
Additionally, from a perspective of my neighbors and the friends across the community this facility plays a significant role in their personal lives. We are of an opinion that such centres are an opportunity to promote mental well-being and promote health consciousness.
If the council decides to shut down such facilities, local folks would be forced to find alternatives across the city. Initiatives like this could lead residents leave the community to find a better residential area with all the amenities. Would you kindly consider my thoughts in this regard?
Thank you for your consideration
Yours faithfully,
Alex
