Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my concern about your decision to knock down the Independence Palace, one of the most crucial historic building of Saigon because of a shortage of budget for renovation.
I am a resident of the city, and it was such a big shock to me when I heard about the news on television last week.
The building has existed for more than 50 years, and it is now used for storing a variety of historical items such as pictures and artefacts. Therefore, it is considered a remarkable tourist attraction to interest thousands of international visitors annually. More importantly, a number of local schools often organise educational tours to give students an opportunity to expand their knowledge about the history of the country during the wartime.
To me, there are several ways to receive financial support to maintain the building operation. First, you should consider increasing the entrance fee so that we can collect extra amounts of money from ticket sales. Second, you should also ask for donations from local people. I believe that these are possible measures if people realise the value of this historic landmark.
I hope that you will take my suggestions into account.
