Essay topics:

Competitiveness is a positive quality for people in most societies. How does competition affect individuals? Is it a positive or negative trend?

Competitiveness is often regarded as a positive personality trait in many societies. From my perspective, being competitive exerts both beneficial and harmful impacts on our lives in different situations.
Those with a competitive nature are more eager to achieve their professional and personal objectives. They are easily envious of other people’s accomplishments, which then nudge them towards growing and striving endlessly to surpass others. This, therefore, serves as a catalyst for career advancement and personal growth. An example of this tendency can clearly be seen in school, where students are, most of the time, pushing themselves to the limit by studying and cramming endlessly every day just to exceed their peers.
A person who competes fiercely is frequently viewed as conceited and haughty. When a disagreement arises, their relationships with those around them, especially those with romantic partners or relatives, usually deteriorate because they are unwilling to make concessions. Furthermore, a highly competitive workforce that produces an intense degree of competition within the organization can also lead to a toxic work environment. In addition to not encouraging productivity, this kind of atmosphere makes some employees uncomfortable collaborating with one another and may even push them into quitting the company in search of a better place to work.
In conclusion, I believe that competitiveness can be considered both positive and negative. It can sabotage a person’s relationship with people around them and affect the workplace. However, it can encourage people to work harder towards their desired goals.
