Recent figures show an increase in violent crime among youngsters under the age of 18. Some psychologists claim that the basic reason for this is that children these days are not getting the social and emotional learning they need from parents and teachers.
So crucial has the role of social and emotional learning grown that psychologists advise that the lack of this education is a fundamental reason for the increase of juvenile delinquency. I find myself, indubitably, leaning towards this perception due to a complicated family and less educational manners.
To commence with, seldom is the escalation of juvenile delinquency not led by family dynamics. On the grounds that patterns of interaction and relationships within a family have a capability to influence children's behavior and development. By this, we mean that an unacceptable upbringing such as the emphasis on individualism and juvenile detention would bring to an initial phase in the formation of youth offenders.
Relatedly, the hegemony of parenting, it is believed, plays a prime role; hence, should parents encourage their adolescent with ideal parenting, it will potentially reduce the rate of an adolescent to commit violent endeavors.
In addition, the insufficient moral-ethical education could contribute to the origin of young offenders. The reason for this is that those types of lessons could increase the capability of filtering external interventions, including negative influence habits. The common educational system in Indonesia, for instance, only focuses on emphasizing compulsory subjects rather than manner building. As a result, students have a potential tendency to commit illegal behavior such as brawl, drug abuse and free sex. This affects their mobility; therefore, should educators impose a better curriculum, including a characteristic building, pupils would have self-awareness and self-empathy towards others, leading them to avoid any illegal activities.
On a final note, it appears that poor education and dysfunctional families could trigger adolescents to commit arrestable offenses since children might misunderstand the boundaries of act.
