Recent figures show an increase in violent crime among youngsters under the age of 18. Some psychologists claim that the basic reason for this is that children these days are not getting the social and emotional learning they need from parents and teachers. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Current studies show that criminal acts among teenagers are becoming more and more prevalent. According to psychology, the main reason for this is child neglect. This essay will argue why this statement is not accurate.
It is claimed by many people that the reason behind a teenager becoming a thug is because of parents not providing their children with proper emotional support. Many parents focus on providing financial support to their children and completely forget about the emotional support they need. Which causes them to be more violent.
The previous statement is not quite accurate because numerous children are given the support they need but despite that, they still become criminals. In my opinion, there are two main explanations for these criminal acts. To begin with, the thing that everyone completely forgets about is the children's environment. Falling in with bad friends can lure you into becoming a thug. I strongly believe that if it hadn't been for these youngster's friends, they wouldn't have gotten caught up in this lifestyle. Although some of them were given the emotional support they needed, they still ended up being criminals. The second reason is growing up in a violent household. Child intervention with violence causes them to bear a grudge against their parents, and then release it to the world. For further illustration, how can someone provide something he hadn't been given?
To sum up, I strongly disagree with child neglect being the main reason for violent crime among youngsters. This is because of the presence of other explanations. Youngsters still commit crimes despite their parents' way of upbringing.
