Societies would benefit from a ban on all forms of advertising because it serves no useful purposes, and can even be damaging. Do you agree or disagree?
It is true that advertisements are being more and more common. A prohibition on all kinds of advertising is believed to improve societies as those are useless and can even be harmful. I totally disagree with this point of view.
To begin with, I believe that societies would suffer a great deal if all advertisements were made unauthorized. As a matter of fact, the advertising industry creates a range of job opportunities for many people. A complete ban on this industry would prevent the chance of working of people, which means that millions of people would have to face unemployment. This would undoubtedly have a severe impact on their lives. Moreover, since the advertising industry makes momentous financial contributions to the development of nations, the government would lose a huge amount of tax revenue from advertising agencies if they did not issue these companies with a business licence.
In addition, advertisements can offer<span class="hiddenSuggestion" pre="can "></span> customers a huge amount of information about products or services. As advertisements are detailed and informative, people can choose between different brands of the same product. Therefore they can make better shopping choices. For example, by watching TV commercials about different brands of shampoo products, a women can decide which one works best for her. Furthermore, advertising is a key part of modern business. To help businesses reach more potential customers, marketing and advertising campaigns are organized. Not only do this provide customers with information but this can also bolsters their sales figures and increases profits.
In conclusion, there are opposing points of view on the effect of advertising on societies. Despite the viewpoint that advertisements should be banned because of their uselessness, it is my firm belief that a total ban on advertising would not benefit the society because advertisements serves many useful purposes and does no harm.
