On one hand, skeptics argue that allowing professional students to work in any country could result in a waste of the time and money invested in their education if they choose not to stay and contribute back to their school and country of study. This concern is indeed valid as it could result in a loss of talent that the country has cultivated. Another concern is the potential leakage of confidential skills or data to other countries. If a particular country excels in a specific field, such as bone repair, and students from other countries acquire the same skills, it could diminish the competitive advantage of the former.
On the other hand, despite these drawbacks, there are numerous ways to address the concerns, and there are significant advantages to allowing students to work in their desired locations. Firstly, professional trainees, such as medical students, have already paid substantial tuition fees for their education. Therefore, the institutions and countries have already benefited from teaching them. It would therefore be unfair to restrict their employment prospects. Additionally, we live in an increasingly globalized world and economy. By allowing students to work where they choose, they can use the skills and expertise they have gained from developed countries to contribute to the development of other areas. For instance, many students from developing countries are admitted to Chinese universities every year in the hopes of receiving a better education and using their knowledge to benefit their home countries. If only a few countries remain dominant in professional fields, the world will remain greatly imbalanced. Finally, finding suitable employment opportunities depends on the abilities and qualifications of the students. Encouraging them to seek work beyond their place of training would also be advantageous in improving employment rates.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that imposing restrictions on professional students' choice of work location is unnecessary. Instead, we should encourage them to explore employment opportunities in other countries.
