Some people say that the only reason for leaning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language.
In the society nowadays, learning another language besides is very popular. It is said that many individuals have the sole motivation to learn a new language is to travel or work in other countries. While some people believe that the justifications for learning other languages are various. In my opinion, I agree with the latter statement.
On one hand, master in a foreign language is the only purpose of individuals have intention to travel and work or study abroad. First and foremost, numerous people learn a strange language in order to participate in foreign languages test to be qualified to get scholarship to study and work abroad. Moreover, many agencies which support labors in underdeveloped countries to go abroad of employment also require the foreign language certification. Besides, learning a new language can provide individuals ability to alter workplace or get promotion for positions in other countries. Due to reasons above, acing in other languages is the target they want to pursuit.
On the other hand, there are obviously variety of explanation for people to learn other languages. First and foremost, a great deal of individuals acknowledges another language with a view to getting access to larger knowledge and research in foreign language. Because the documents and books in local languages are not enough, learning other languages is a remedy for them to get wider knowledge. Moreover, language is one of the greatest way to know about other cultures. Therefore, a lot of individuals choose to learn a new language to know more details about other cultures which are not mentioned in other papers. Last but not least, others learning languages for entertainment purposes. This action can provide audiences and viewers to enjoy films, music and so on in the most complete way. For example, Vietnamese people usually learn Korean to get access to K-pop or many Korean opera soaps without Vietnamese subtitles which are sometimes very irritating. As a result, learning new languages is for a wide range of purposes.
In conclusion, although some people learning a strange language just to travel and work or study, there are a great deal of rationales for this activity.
