Some people today believe that it is acceptable to use physical force to discipline children, but others feel it is completely unacceptable. Discuss this view and give your opinion.
Nowadays, in the education industry, an issue exists, as disobedience among youngsters has reached an all-time high commonness, along with increasing levels of notoriousness, prompting the necessity of measures to combat this trend. Among the proposed alterations come the reemployment of corporal punishments in the educational landscape in light of the past testimony of its effectiveness and the severity of the current situation. However, many hold low weight to this proposal, restating reasons for its prior abolishment and the possible harms it may incur in a modern setting. In my opinion, while a heavier deterrence may be desirable, extreme reprimandation can lead to extensive consequences.
Various rationales lay the foundation upholding this viewpoint. To begin with, its immediate warnings of misconduct are a major selling point to parents and teachers alike. Authorised adults often need to put children into obedience from a young age to prevent rebellion in adolescence from spiralling out of control. Harsh punishment can leave immediate and indelible imprints of the first-time violations, dissuading additional offences due to the unawareness of their misconduct. Additionally, children can gain insights from the consequences of their actions, such as the importance of discipline or regulating and controlling their behaviours and emotions. This helps refine their personalities and strengths, doing them good for much further in their lives.
However, the detrimental effects physical discipline has on the development of schoolchildren are too grave to ignore. First and foremost, direct physical injuries can have negative impacts on both the physical and mental health of young schoolers. Pupils might become fearful and resentful of schools, the place to them is of only invariable suffering and stress. More severely, this can lead to problems such as anxiety, low self-esteem or depression. In addition, the use of physical forces in education fosters a contrasting learning environment to be peaceful and effective, resulting in an obvious but substantial decrease in academic qualities. Furthermore, this can perpetuate a wrongful conception of violence for offenders, living their childhood with the inception that physical violations can be acceptable under permissible circumstances, leading to a never-ending cycle of abuse. To illustrate, numerous surveys have shown that parents choosing to use physical discipline against their offspring often correlate with being subjected to similar treatment during their early years of life.
In conclusion, while multiple points may be given to advocate for the legalization of corporal punishments, it is not a reasonable option, and should not be employ in modern education.
