Some universities offer online courses as an alternative to classes delivered on campus. Do you think this is a positive or negative development?
Students at numerous universities have the option of distance learning using an online platform in place of traditional classrooms. Although the growth of internet-based courses might be harmful in a variety of ways, in my opinion, it is still a necessary step in the right direction.
To begin with, there are a lot of arguments in favor of online e-learning as a flexible study technique. Firstly, participant learners can proactively plan their study schedules, allowing them to learn at their own pace. In addition, when learning online, you can go over earlier content, pause the lecture to conduct additional research or organize your notes instead of asking instructors to expand on a certain subject or restate a point they made in a previous lesson might be unpleasant for students. Furthermore, due to the widespread usage of the internet, unlimited individuals can learn online with little outlay of cash, regardless of their location or financial status. For instance, the website Alison offers a huge range of cost-free, in-depth lectures. All different types of learners, including managers, professionals, teachers and independent contractors are expected to use it. Last but not least, taking online classes, which put you on a regular schedule of establishing and fulfilling deadlines, is another way to practice time management and staying productive week after week.
On the other hand, while online education has many benefits for students' skills and financial position, however this is only true for specific individuals. Due to the necessity of spending a lot of time online while taking an online course, many students and teachers may begin to exhibit signs of social isolation. This lack of human interaction also frequently causes a number of mental health problems, including increased stress, anxiety, and negative thoughts. In conclusion, even though taking online courses has its disadvantages, in my view this approach to tertiary education is a revolutionary one today. At once, this is a development for the better and might take the place of the majority of university programs that are offered on campuses.
