Many people think that in the near future, cars will be driven by computers, not people. Do you think it is a positive or negative development?
Over the past few years, the development of self-driving cars has gained significant observation, and many people believe that in the near future, cars will be driven by computers rather than humans. To my point of view, this is a positive development for a variety of reasons.
Self-driving cars have the potential to reduce the number of accidents on the roads. According to the World Health Organization, more than 1.3 million people die each year in traffic accidents (*). Cars in self-driving mode on the other hand, are programmed to follow the rules of the road and avoid dangerous situations, which could lead to a reduction in the number of injury.
Additionally, self-driving cars could improve capability for people who are unable to drive, such as the elderly or people with disabilities. With automated cars, these individuals would have greater independence and the ability to travel more freely, which could enhance their quality of life.
Moreover, self-driving cars could have a positive impact on the environment. Without the driver’s hand on the steering wheel, self-driving cars are more efficient than human-driven cars, as they can be programmed to take the most direct route to avoid traffic congestion, which would therefore reducing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
In conclusion, while some people may be hesitant about the idea of cars that are capable of driving themself, I believe that the development of this technology is a positive development. Cars in self-driving mode have the potential to reduce accidents, improve mobility for people who are unable to drive, and have a positive impact on the environment. However, it is important to ensure that proper safety measures and regulations are in place to ensure the safe operation of self-driving cars.
