Would you prefer to take courses taught by professors with whom you have already had other classes during your past years of study, or would you prefer to take courses with professors whose classes you have never taken before? Why?
Some people prefer to take courses taught by professors with whom they have already had other classes during their past because since they are already familiar with the professor, it will help them to understand and go into the depth of the subject matter. However, I would prefer to take courses with professors whose classes I have never taken before because of the following reasons.
First of all, I'd like to take courses with professors whose classes I have never taken before because new professor may elucidate subject matter in a lucid way. For example, when I was in grade ten, our mathematics teacher was good in interpreting mathematical conundrums. I used to think that he was the best teacher in the world. However, when I passed grade ten and went to grade eleven, there was a new teacher for our mathematics subject. The teacher in grade eleven was a genious, he was far more good even the good teacher of grader ten. If the professor was not changed, I never could have known that excellent teacher exists. Nonetheless, sometime when the professor is changed, new professor may be less good at interpreting things, but this case is very much rare. Hence, changing the professor may give you a different educational insight in terms of his or her perspective.
Second, I'd like to take courses with professors whose classes I have never taken before because taking courses to new professor helps to enhance your communication skill. For example, if you are familiar with one professor in your undergraduate, then possibly you are not afraid of having conversation with him or her. Notwithstanding, when you face new professor in your graduate school, you will probable face difficulties to talk with him. When you face such difficulties time by time, you will be confident enough to communicate with new professor. As a result, it will help you to understand the subject matter in depth. It is important because, in real world, nobody remains in your life forever, either in your workplace, or in your neighbor. So if you develops your communication skill in your university life, it will help you throughout your life.
Third of all, I'd like to take courses with professor whose classes I have never taken before because new professor have new may give extra importance to you than previous one. For example, when I was studying in my first year of undergraduate, one of my professor was so subversive to me. He used to have no notice of my project works and my approach to solving problems. Nevertheless, when I was in second year of undergraduate, there were another professor to which I have never taken the classes. He was so inspiring and so caring for me that I could able to become first in my class due to his caring and continuous guidance. If I had continued to take courses to that first year professor, I'd have never be able to become an excellent student in my class. Hence, it is important to change the professor.
In conclusion, it is possible that changing professor might not be beneficial all the time, however, it is more likely that changing new professor gives you new insight about the subject matter and might be more advangeous in the way as described above.
