Jane Austen's Found Portrait

Essay topics:

Jane Austen's Found Portrait

The reading is about a portrait that has been considered as Jane Austen picture and it gives us some reasons for relating it to Jane Austen but the lecture doesn't confirm it because of these reasons:

First, the reading says that in 1882 Austen's family has accepted this portrait as her picture but the lecture doesn't agree and it says no one in the family, at that time, even had seen Jane so their evidence can't be proved.

Second, the reading says because the portrait is so similar to what Jane's sister, Cassandra, has painted of her, So it's Jane's. but again the lecture doesn't agree and it says Jane's family had been so crowded and the portrait may belong to one of her family members and has some people as options to be related to the portrait.

Third, the reading says that the style of the portrait is so similar to a painter, named Humphrey, who his working time was exactly when Jane was a teenager. Again, the lecture doesn't confirm it and says just the style isn't a conceiving proof and there should be other reasons too. Moreover, the canvas has been sold by a man named William Leg and when he was selling canvases, Jane had been about 27 years old and she hadn't been a teenager.
