paintings of rembrandts

Essay topics:

paintings of rembrandts

The author of the reading believes that the painting of a woman's face is not dedicated to famous dutch painter portraits. The lecturer challenges the statements made by the author, she holds the view that they were thinking wrong about the portrait and it was indeed related to Rembrandt.
First of all, the author suggests that the woman in the painting wore a costly fur collar which can't be afforded by a servant, and besides the painter was extremely meticulous about details while doing his job. This argument is challenged by the lecturer. He says the fair collar wasn't part of the original painting and it was added later to increase the value of the painting.
Secondly, the writer contends that the painter who was an expert in painting light and shadow didn't follow the rules of painting the shadow and reflect of light on the fur collar. The lecturer, however, rebuts this by asserting that as the collar was added after some time to the painting when you remove it you would notice the reflection of light and it seems to be so realistic just as the type of Rembrandts's paintings.
Finally, it is stated in the article that two pieces of wood were glued together to have one wood panel of painting while, Rembrandts used to paint on only one piece of wood. The lecturer, on the other hand, contradicts that by saying that they added one new part of the wood to the panel to paint the collar fur and the texture of the wood was the same as the wood which Rembrandt used in his self-portrait painting.
