Spacecraft
The reading and lecture is about spacecraft who will enable the private citizen to buy their own tickets to travel in space. The author of the reading believes that spaceflight industry will benefit science and the public. The lecture challenges the statement made by the author. he thinks that it will be a drawback to science and public due to 3 main reasons.
First of the author suggested that space travel will benefit serious space exploration for making spaceflight cheaper. he further mentions that by lowering the cost of the space travel it will benefit space tourist and scientist to use private space flight for research purposes. The argument is challenged by the lecture. he says that the spacecraft is very expensive. The commercial space travel will need elaborate space traffic control to prevent a collision. Furthermore, he argues that if it is cheap they need to look at the safety too, they need to be retested again and again. As a result, both of them will reflect the space flight tickets
Secondly, the writer contends that privatization of space travel will accelerate the rate. The article notes that adding private space flight companies it will make the industry grow. The lecture, however, rebuts this by asserting that if they are working on a high salary there will be poor profits. As a result, they will end up working with commercial stuff that will lead to no scientific research.
Finally, he states that the government is sole providers of space travel. The author establishes that they will be able to raise funds through ticket sale which means that the financial burden on taxpayers will ease significantly. The lecture, on the other hand, posits that billions of dollars are spent on private space travel. he puts forth the idea that private space travel cannot raise a huge amount. The burden will not be ease. they have to pay more to subsidize on space travel.
