Summarize the points made in the lecture being sure to explain how they challenge specific points made in the reading passage

Essay topics:

Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they challenge specific points made in the reading passage.

As technology gets more sophisticated, a thing called a smart car will become widespread in use. The passage claims that smart cars will improve our lives in a variety of ways, such as dispersed traffic accidents, saved time, and reduction of costs. But a lecturer thinks that it is not clear if smart cars will bring us benefits or not.

The lecture disagrees about the view of dispersed traffic accidents. It thinks that nothing in the world is perfect, and it also applies to cars. Every single car will someday have accidents as long as it is being used. It doesn't matter if it is a smart car or a normal car, or if it has sensors or not. Also, since the cars are closely packed together at high speeds, then if they collide, a collision will become a pile-up with cars all over the place.

When new cars are released, people will like to drive them because people will expect the cars to be convenient and fast. The next problem is that an increased amount of cars with higher speeds on a highway will affect the drivers who will not have the chance of releasing the car's full potential of being fast. A jammed highway will result in slower speed of cars and therefore will not save time.

Lastly, the lecture put forward that the cost of maintaining a smart car is very expensive. For example, the GPS that the car relies on is very expensive to use. Also, the parts destroyed in accidents are expensive to fix thanks to its advanced technology. So, as one can see, the cost of maintaining a smart car is way more expensive than a normal car. Therefore, it will not save money.
