TOEFL TPO 21 - Integrated Writing Task
In this set materials, the reading passage state that genetically modified trees can produce more fruit, grow faster and many other benefits than natural trees. On the other hand, the listening section brings into the question the reading points by providing different reasons (and examples).
First of all, the reading passage indicates that genetically modified trees are hardier and more survive than native trees; in contrast, the lecturer opposes this view by mentioning that genetically modified trees are resistant in particular condition and in this condition some individual native trees can survive. But all genetically modified trees are uniform; therefore, they become a competition with native trees. As result, the genetically modified trees causes died native trees.
Second, the reading argues that genetically modified trees have cost-effective; conversely, what the lecturer believes is different. She points that after grown trees, farmers cannot collect free seed of the genetically modified trees. Also, based on law, the farmer must pay money to use the seeds of genetically modified trees.
Finally, according to the reading, the genetically modified trees can prevent overexploitation of native trees. However, the speaker state that the genetically modified trees become composition with native trees in many sources such as soils and water. Hence, they can grow gravely, and they eliminate the native trees.
