TPO-02 - Integrated Writing Task In many organizations, perhaps the best way to approach certain new projects is to assemble a group of people into a team. Having a team of people attack a project offers several advantages. First of all, a group of people

Both the reading and listening discuss working in groups. The reading provides three advantages of working in teams. The lecturer casts doubts on the claims made in the article. He thinks that it is inferior in each of author's reasons.
The first benefit of working in groups is that there are a variety of information, sources which come from different people. Therefore, they can give out quick and creative solutions to issues they may confront with. This is challenged by the professor. He argues that some projects may take so long for every member to reach agreement. They may have some disagreement which make it longer to resolve small tasks. Whereas, individuals do not need to convince anyone to start developing their ideas.
The second area of advantage the article mentions is risky decisions which are made by groups. Every member in a group will present one overall idea so they are likely to have creative solutions due to no specific responsibility in a team. However, the professor argues that some influential people in groups may have more power over the rest. They sometimes make wrong decisions to foster adverse ideas. Furthermore, they may refuse good ideas which may counter with them. This can lead to the failure of the whole team even though some warnings are given by some member. As a result, this won't helpful to work in teams.
Last but not least, the article asserts that the impact of group success are far-reaching than individuals in the sense that it is the result of a big community. The professor, on the other hand, contends that some members do not usually devote themselves to projects. Nevertheless, some people work hard to attain the rewards. Those hard-working people do not feel fair comparing to lazy members. In other words. working in groups do not totally benefit the whole team.
