TPO 16- Integrated: the archaeology science is in danger in Britain because of three reasons
many artifacts were lost in construction projects
many professionals feel that financial support for their research is inadequate
it is difficult to have a career in this field.
The article asserts that nowadays archaeology major feces numerous difficulties in Britain. Nonetheless, the professor not only casts doubt on the presumptions made by the author but also defends her hypothesis by three persuasive rationalizations. She endorses that new guidelines and rules have been adopted which changed this science and improved it in three areas. The explanations of these areas, used to shed light on this controversial issue, are as the following.
First of all, the reading claims that new construction projects have destroyed and sabotaged the situations of many artifacts. However, the lecturer believes that the new guidelines force the construction companies to let the site be examined before any executions. Therefore, if anything valuable and interesting thing is found in the site, they must proceed to the next step which is the decision of local oficials as well as the archaeologists together about whether to preserve the findings or let the construction be done near to their location.
Secondly, the passage upholds that many archaeologists have been suffering from the inadequacy of funds in their major. On the other hand, the aducator overthrows this opinion, mainly because she insists that the new rules force the construction companies, not the government, to pay the archaeologists for any kind of work that must be done on their sites, such as the examinations. Thus, this is considered as a supportive plan for the archaeologists, and they can work on more sites thanks to this new income.
Tertiary, the author acknowledges that there are few job vacancies availabe for archaeologists, but the teacher refutes this idea due to the fact that she insists scores of paid jobs (mostly new) are defined for them throughout all stages of the processes of their major from pre-planning of the site to the processing of the data and writing academic articles. Therefore, today, the number of professional archaeologists is in it climax and they are offered myriad profitable positions.
