TPO-17 - Integrated Writing Task
The main idea of both the passage and the talk is about adverse influence of human and agricuture growth to wildlife, especially bird populations. In the text, the author believes that there are three consequences of human growth that leads to birds decline. The lecturer challenges all the viable theories that are mentioned in the reading. She id of the opinion that none of these claims is convincing.
Firstly, the author asserts that human population growth lead to dwindles the size of natural hapitats such as forests and wetlands for birds. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that although some kinds of birds are decreced in some areas, these areas are provided new habitat for others. Furthermore, she argues that the reaserch have been shown that the number of some birds such as pigins are increced in subburns area.
In addition, the reading passge claims that the increase of agricultural activities for fulfilling the humans needs leads to destruction of birds habitat. The lecturer, however, rebuts this by asserting that the agricutural activities do not affect the birds habits like mentioned in the reading. Moreover, she says that in the United States farmers use a differents kind of crop in diffrents seasons and by doing this the lands will not be more destructed. Also, she beleives that there are not extra lands in the US.
Eventually, the author holds the view that using the chemical pesticides would advesely affect the number of birds population. The lecturer, although, dismisses it by pointing out that the traditional psticides that were used in the past was harmful, but the new developed pesticides are not very harmful to bird population and also these are used less than past. Furthermore, she expalins that the new crops which are very resistant are replaced with former plants. Therefore, the readings calims could not be reasonable.
